Holiday Date Ideas in Southern Illinois

dates

Are you guilty of neglecting date nights? If you have children, it is important that you and your partner have that time alone together, but children can most certainly be involved in some of these date night ideas! Spend little to no money on these dates and still have a great time.

  Frugal Date Ideas

Christmas Lights –  You can enjoy shows, or just go out on your own and explore. Southernmost Illinois Tourism Bureau is a great place to find a list of events in your area. The local newspapers also do a good job at advertising the local events.

Play in the Snow – If this year is anything like the persimmons or Farmer’s Almanac predict, I think we are in for a lot of snow this year! Might as well enjoy it with your sweetie. Make a snowman, have a snowball fight, etc. Then warm up inside with a cup of hot coco.

Volunteer – This may not sound like a “fun” date night, but volunteering will hopefully give you both a new meaning of the holidays! There are many places out there that would love your help.

Visit a Christmas Tree Farm – If you get a real tree every year you probably already know all the good places, if not, this  website will help you find a tree farm closest to you!

Decorate Your Tree Together – Nothing kicks off the holiday season quite like putting up your tree! It can be a good time to reminisce on past Christmases. My husband and I have bought a new ornament each year from a kiosk in the mall for the past 4 years. It is fun to look at the ornaments and talk about how life was different just 4 years ago!

Indoor Movie Nights – Curl up on the couch with a hot cup of cider (or coco.. pick your flavor) and some popcorn and enjoy a movie together. Hallmark is always a great channel for Christmas movies.
